The Hip Hop culture affects pop culture, in a few ways. I think more so on the way they would like to still incorporate hip hop in some way, by adding a rapper to their song or even incorporating some sort of hip hop beat. Katy Perry, Ariana Gande, Justin Beiber, and Miley Cyrus as well as Taylor Swift each featured a hip hop artist in their music. Whether it is to gain more fans or get a more diverse group of people to listen to their music, it has affected the pop culture to not really be so "pop" anymore it's beginning to change. The Hip Hop culture has made an affect on my like in many different ways, both negative and positive. I use to view myself as not being like the average girl all the rappers are talking about in their songs or their videos but I also, use it as a way to relate and listen to some of the music and either I have been in the same situation and I'm not the only one, or even just to wake up in the morning, get energized and move around. A few of the hip hop artist have also influenced me as well, but in good ways, like I can do anything I want to do, nothing is impossible. It feels good knowing your not the only one in he world that has experienced some of the things that a few hip hop artist have experienced as well. The link below is a video on youtube of a video with a hip hop artist and a pop artist

As I watch MTV Jams in the morning and the few occasions I listen to the radio, one thing is very prevalent is the influence of hip hop culture on pop culture. Artists such as Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, even Kanye West all serve as examples of artists who have managed to crossover from hip-hop to pop or vice versa. Hip-hip is a way of life, a style, a language, it's more than just music and that's depicted as you see artists incorporate hip hop way of dressing or lingo into their everyday lives. I specifically remember a young Justin Bieber, so innocent and child-like when he first emerged on the scene with his first single, "One Time". Now we see the older more mature Justin Bieber, making more and more music with hip-hop artists such as Young Thug and Travis Scott. His outer appearance reminiscent of a hip-hop artists as he tatted up and on stage drinking Hennessy from the bottle and scolding his audiences for not being able to clap on beat. Justin Bieber is the example of hip-hop culture influence on pop artists. More and more pop artists are seeking out hip-hop artists to stay relevant as mentioned in class, an example of that is Selena Gomez's collaboration with A$AP Rocky or Miley Cyrus's collaboration with Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J. Another way to see how hip-hop culture is having its affects on pop culture is the popularization of marijuana, which I believe is apart of hip-hop culture as well. Pop artists are now glorifying the usage of weed or smoking weed. Hip-hop has essentially made me who I am in a sense. I enjoy all genres of music, however I was born into a family who deeply appreciated hip-hop, not too mention I was born and raised and currently still residing in the Bronx, New York, the birthplace of hip hop. Being from the Bronx, you develop a sense of pride knowing that your borough is accredited with the creation of such an influential culture. In addition, to being from the Bronx, I'm also very Jamaican and one thing Jamaicans are is proud. Therefore, my family enjoyed explaining to me how hip-hop was created by Jamaican man and how I should appreciate its beauty even more. Nevertheless, I see hip-hop's influence in my everyday life, how I speak, write dress and dance. I'm a poet and a rapper on the low. My love for beats, rhythm and rhyme and being able to express myself in a creative way essentially makes me who I am and I couldn't be this way without hip-hop. I'm attaching two videos one of Justin Bieber and the other or Miley Cyrus just to further illustrate my point of the hip-hop/pop culture cross over.

ReplyDeleteHip Hop has influence pop culture in so many ways, but one way in particular is dance. Break dancing and having a dance CREW is an original staple in hip hop. As I researched break dancing my research took me to Brazil were a Brazilian martial art called Capoeira it combines elements of dance, acrobatics and music. It is sometimes referred to as a game. It was develop in Brazil mainly by West African descendants. There has become a trend with in other cultures to break dance and have a dance crew the most popular culture would be white America and Asians There have been tons of movies that high light the hip hop dance culture, such as (Save the last Dance, Step Up, and Honey). These movies are usually revolved around some person saving another. In the movie Honey the main actress is trying to raise money for a community center so that she can save the young under privilege black kids in New York. The movie Step up is about a white ballet dancer trying to help a young white hip hop dancer/janitor get into to performing art school she attends. Lastly the movie Save the Last Dance is about a young black student who happens to know how to dance help his white girl friend will her way back to dancing ballet again. There has even been a show on MTV that was call America’s Best Dance Crew which was internationally distributed. The movies and TV show spoken with in his text only go to show how white America’s need to explain a culture to themselves, while making money off of it. Below is a wonderful example of hoe Hip Hop dance has influenced pop culture in all races, this is from MTV INDIA!!

Hip hop has influenced pop culture in many ways, one in particular that stood out to me was fashion and style. From hip hop artist collaborating with pop artist you can see the transition from the norms of a pop artist to them now looking like that belong to the hip hop culture. From the early nineties up until present female groups like TLC and Salt n Pepa have set major trends in the Hip Hop culture. Females like Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry all have been affected by the hip hop culture. Wearing crop tops like Aaliyah, Colored wigs like Little Kim and oversized clothes like TLC and Missy Elliott. These were all popular looks of the hip hop culture which have made a big impact on all different genres but in particular pop. Everything today has come full circle and just about everyone is using someone for inspiration rather they care to admit it or not. Hip hop has made a great impact on my life, seeing males like Andre 3000 let me know it was okay to be myself. Being expressive, creative and different but not necessarily caring what anyone had to say. You can only be the best you and Hip Hop helps you to remember that. The authenticity of certain artist bring to your eyes that even in music you can be you and be expressive and successful at the same time.

Hip hop culture has had an influence on pop culture in many ways. One way hip hop has influenced pop culture is the way the artist dress. Hip hop has had an influence on it all…from the crop tops (Salt n Pepa), to Timberlands (Notorious Big), to Hilfiger sweatshirts (Snoop Dogg), to the baggy jeans (Tupac). Many artists in the pop culture, such as Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande are sporting these same looks that were once big in the hip hop culture. Another way hip hop has affected the pop culture is that hip hop is now incorporated into pop songs. Big time pop artist such as Selena Gomez, Iggy Azalea and Katy Perry often feature hip hop rappers in their music. In my opinion, that is smart of these pop artist. Allowing these hip hop artists do a verse or 2 in their songs will broaden their listeners. The beat to most pop songs have also sped up over time, resembling that of a hip hop song. Hip hop has made a significant impact on my life because I can relate to a lot of hip hop rappers. These hip hop artist have made me realize that I’m not the only person who is going through or been through a struggle. These rappers have money to blow, but yet they still face everyday problems like you and I. Also, sometimes it is hard for me to express myself, but listening to hip hop makes it easier for me to get my point across. Hip hop is truly a voice for the voiceless. The link below is “Good For You” by Selena Gomez ft. A$AP Rocky. In this video, although A$AP rapped slowly to the beat of the song, he is talking about many of the same things that are talked about a lot in the hip hop culture. This song is evidence that hip hop culture is influencing the pop culture.

I have always been a big fan of music in general . Hip hop has been my first love that has always seemed to know me more than anyone else could. hip hop has tapped into many different avenues and I definitely agree that hip hop has been a big influence in pop culture. Many pop artist of today have done collabs with hip hop artist such as katy Perry and snoops single California girls to even the Jonas Brothers teaming up with common to produce the single Do not charge me for the crime. I find hip hop to be so unique and well rounded to the point where other genres and artist can connect to make something so brilliant. I believe hip hop is a lifestyle where you can be so versatile . Hip hop also has tapped into the dance world as well as fashion world . Alot of young women such as Miley Cyrus , Zendaya , and Taylor Swift have been effected by hip hops culture. examples are by how they dress, act and even how there careers have taken a shift from the beginning to present day. Taylor swift started as young innocent country girl that gradually moved to the pop scene and then tiptoed into hip hop adding a little flavor with her song Bad Blood featuring Kendrick Lamar. hip hop introduced me to my talents in dance as well as my great ear of hearing music to create a song or even a dance that can tell a story. the true Hip hop culture painted who I was and set a foundation of I could be lyrically and physically.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcIy9NiNbmo
ReplyDeleteThe movie that influenced me to love hip-hop through Ballet :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSxvIaOHJR4
Hip Hop has very many influences in the pop culture as well in movies, clothes, commercials and etc. Hip hop is basically the best genre we can have in this world. when we get into the pop culture we have atrists like Ariana Grande, Rita Ora, Katy Perry, and Miley Cyrus we see them collaborating more with Hip Hop artists like Lil Wanye, T.I., ASAP Rocky, and Big Sean and of course and many more. Honestly before these artists that I mention before started to feature more mainstream hip hop rapers in their songs I was a fan I never had a problem, but its a great ideal it good for record sells, and it will give them a more diverse fan base and make them come out of their shell, what is the world without hip hop NOTHING. Hip hop is everywhere we have sneakers, Alcohol, sport drinks and etc this genre has movies like Krush Groove and Breakin' that will hip hop will never die. Hip hop is very versatile its just all well rounded genre. Hip hop has influence me in a negative way is also a positive way because of course some music is very downgrading, especially when it comes to men loving light skin women over dark skin its really teaching the next generation of men that they should not date a women with dark skin I think that its so disrespectful, and for me being a dark skin female I always get you think your better because of you skin complexion or you think your all that, we women are actually being racists to one another and we don't think that this is a problem but it is. The positive way hip hop because I love music I love musical instruments and I have played music on a clarinet, and a guitar and also drums and my spare time, I feel that hip hop in general has made me musical talent, my ears only love good music now and its all becaue of hip hop. I posted a article that I think you guys will like you should go check it out the article title is Out Of The Booth: Why Hip Hop is everywhere.

ReplyDeleteI think hip-hop has an influence on pop culture in multiple ways, I think one affect hip hop has on pop culture is through artist. Justin bieber for an example has converted to a hip hop life style or having more of a thug life persona. Justin bieber is apart of TMT, he is tatted up, and he has even tried to change his race to black. Another way hip-hop has influenced pop culture is through dance, every dance from hip hop goes viral. The new Dab dance is everywhere the new broadcasters are doing it, in more recent news Cam Newton has been in the media for his Touch down celebration Dabbing on his opponents.
Hip-hop has influenced my life more so on the way I dress, not the skinny jeans and all that more of the Levi's and polo type of swag. I also even got me some slugs because I seen it and thought it was dope to have a grill. Hip hop has also open my eyes to recognizing the real from the fake and to listen beyond the music all these artist that still talk about selling drugs and living that thug life makes me wonder. There isn't enough hours in a day for rappers to be in the studio all day and selling out the trap house it's just not possible. http://youtu.be/SYkB_FUe2XE
http://youtu.be/ikvfurwDxoQ
Hip Hop is more than music and it has influenced the pop culture in many other ways than just music. Hip hop music comes along with a big influence in violence, drugs, slang, fashion and lifestyle. We have all been influenced in some way because of hip hop and most of the time we don't even realize it. The music itself has been drowned out by the mission of every hip hop artist to fight for fame or the inauthenticity of keeping it "real". For most fans, the music is something that relates to their lifestyle in some way. If not, the music influences the fan to mock the things they have knowledge of. For example, the style of clothes that are worn by not only hip hop artist, but the women that are exposed in main stream media have also influenced the style of many men and women today. You have those men that feel that it is more important to have a gucci belt on than a vehicle to drive to work. You have some women who think it is appropriate to wear clothing that exposes their female parts in public because they think that it is attractive to the eye. The type of cars to drive or buy is also an affect that hip hop has on our younger generation. Another example of how hip hop affects pop culture is the language that is used in normal conversation. Hip hop artists use slang in their lyrics that mean one thing to them but can mean other things. Once the audience picks up on these words, they then become a part of everyday language without even realizing it. I've even witnessed professors say words that have come from hip hop music and they have no clue what it even means. Hip hop music has also affected pop culture with how much of an influence drugs have on our culture. Hip hop artists have gotten to the point where they brag about doing drugs and they types of drugs they use. "Molly" is one drug that is in a lot of lyrics in todays hip hop. Of course you also have marijuana that is the most popular drug that is practiced and used due to the influence that hip hop has on our culture. Even liquor has had an influence on our culture because of the known fact that hip hop artist party hard. Hip hop has had a major impact on my life because of my love for music. For one, the style of artist like Miguel and Chris Brown has been one that I can relate to my style. I love the way they dress therefore I when I shop for clothes, I grab similar styled clothing. Not only that I have dedicated a lot of my time to videography and photography. I also love rapping and writing. Artist like J Cole, Wale, Kendrick Lamar, and Meek Mill are the ones that motivate me to continue to speak about life situations and things that I go through.

ReplyDeleteHip-hop culture influences pop culture because pop stars are now changing the way they dress and the way they do their music videos. I was never into the pop music but these days all the music is starting to the sound the same. One person in particular that stands out to me is Justin Bieber, he has definitely converted to hip-hop the way he dances and dress. Sometimes I mix his voice up that's how much his music has upgraded to a different level. Bieber is now a thug that knows how to pull the ladies, he has money and hoes too. If you look at Miley Circus, Iggy and Katy Perry know have rappers featured in their songs. With hip-hop influencing pop, to me pop music is focusing on the beats. The impact that hip-hop culture has making on my life is being able to relate. Seeing people make it to that level of success knowing that they had a life like mine or worse then mine. Some of my best dress styles has came from the hip-hop culture. I am old school, it is more then the beats. It is about me feeling and individual. This is a Justin Bieber video called "Baby ft Ludacris".
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kffacxfA7G4. Hip hop has influenced me by allowing me to know that I have the freedom to talk about anything I want weather or not people agree with it or not. It has also influenced the writing, such as the poems that I create. When I am going through things, I listen to the hardcore hip hop and I vibe with the music.
Pop culture is an area of the music world that thrives very well just by itself as well as any other genre of music. In the recent years its as though pop culture and its music has become one of the most listened to and known topics. This is because not only have they grown more lyrically and artist wise, they have added a key component that has taken it through the roof, hip hop. Because of this great merging of sounds, Pop and its culture has been taken to a new level. Now a days you rarely hear a pop song without some rap artist featured on it. Pop artists now have changed their mannerisms and original ways of making music to include hip hop artists so they can have more hits and hopefully come to have awards. A lot of awards given out to pop artists have a rapper included on it so they see this as a way of furthering their career, which isn't a bad thing at all, its actually very smart. Hip Hop culture is very influential because it sets standards that everyone and every other genre of music wants to meet. Hip Hop has always been a big factor in music and I feel like pop culture and the music are just now utilizing this to their advantage. Hip Hop culture has made an impact on my life in many ways. I can’t go a day without listening to music, it may not always be hip hop music but music none the less. Hip Hop culture has affected me because it gives me an outlet to their world and the new styles that come out. Hip Hop culture is more than just the music, its about the clothing, the fragrances, the art, and the materialistic things. Many people as well as myself see rappers like Kanye West who has a very successful clothing and sneaker line and we want to purchase those items. I personally want a pair of Yeezy sneakers. I watch all of the award shows and follow a lot of rappers on social media and sometimes they give me positive and negative views that I can take into context and apply to my life. I watch all of these up and coming rap artists who work so hard to get to that famous stage and most of them accomplish this. Their dedication and compassion gives me the feeling that I can follow my dreams just as they have done with theirs.

DeleteI personally have always loved hip hop music and I admit that I’ve listened to pop from time to time depending on exactly who the artist happened to be; but as far the affect hip-hop has on the pop culture, it definitely has one. In today’s society you can catch a lot of popular “hip-hop” artist featured on “pop” songs, or actually making their own pop songs; taking part in both cultures. The reason for this? In actuality at this moment the pop culture is just a softer hip-hop culture where rappers can ride the fence if they want to make more guaranteed money in the sense. Hip-hip doesn’t sale better than pop music, nowhere near it. Rappers want to eat too. The impact that the hip-hop culture has on the pop culture is that hip-hop plays as a big brother role to pop culture; meaning although pop culture may be more popular when it comes to bringing in the big bucks in the mainstream, they really benefit off of the hip-hop artist that will jump on a feature to give it that flavor and extra “swag” that will turn a mediocre pop track into a certified hit. You see when a hip-hop artist is featured on a pop track, it’s like a “hood” pass and at this point this “pop cultured track” with authentic rapper featured on it will now be played in urban areas and listened to and explored by individuals who personally don’t relate to pop culture; which this results to what? More money, more revenue to keep pop culture ahead but in the mist it uses hip-hop culture for its originality, melodies, and lingo to keep progressing. When it comes to me, hip-hop culture has had a nice size impact on me my father and my uncles were the biggest fans of tupac…. The whole family is Christian, but during tough times the motivational quotes we heard didn’t quite come from the bible most of the time; the saying’s used around the house and used for motivational purposes came from the lyrics and words from interviews of tupac.

ReplyDeleteHip Hop affects pop culture in a multitude of ways. One major way Hip hop affects pop culture is fashion. For example Run DMC helped Adidas gain relevancy and continue to stay a business because they started to wear all adidas material when they performed or just out in everyday life. Now given that Run DMC during that time was on top of the Hip Hop industry everyone listened to them an looked up to them. Therefore anything Run DMC wore everyone wanted to wear the same thing. Which increased adidas sales and helped them not go out of business. Another way hip Hop influences pop culture is the slang talk and lingo they use. One example is the use of the word T.H.O.T which is an arcanum for that hoe over there. Which is often used in pop culture now. A lot of people say, “ oh she is a thot.” which is not a good term to use for a female. However since hip hop is using it lately in all raps more people are using it. Hip hop mad a huge impact on my life to what I dressed like and my thought pattern. My fashion sense was what ever the rappers at that time were wearing. I did not look at any fashion magazines or online for fashion tips or anything. I looked to the rappers for my fashion sense. Also my thought pattern was some what influenced by hip hop because although they did not talk about God too much in their lyrics I was and still very much into God and serving him. I did also think about the money sports clothes and females. Also having multiple females at one time.

Hip hop is a reproduction of social change. It creates new attitudes and reproduces the reality of a time and age. Nowadays, the influence Hip-Hop has had on pop culture is obvious. The effects of Hip-Hop are evident through the way society dress, talk, walk, and act. Language and words formed on the streets moves quickly off the street on to the radio then into social media and into our everyday lingo. Through a ridiculous punch-line in a song, Kanye West created a word, "cray". Once this word came out the pop culture took over making vines and other post saying “that’s cray cray” this phase was used properly and improperly for what seemed to be forever. Language is everything in society and as society and hip hop changes, so does language.

DeleteHip-Hop culture has had a major impact on my life. From the way I dress, to the way I speak. Growing up as the baby boy with two older sisters, I often looked up to certain rappers from a younger brother perspective. It was certain conversations I felt weren't appropriate to have with my dad, and I didn't feel like the females in my family could relate. So when rappers mentioned things like how to get girls or what kind of sneakers were cool, it was like a big brother "putting me on game". Being that many hip-hop listeners are also a part of the culture, we tend to wait for hip-hop to tell us certain things are okay. Among those things are other genres of music. Many teens like songs from the 70's because they've heard them sampled in their favorite rapper songs. I think the Pop culture sees this relationship. I believe this is why we have collaborations like Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj. By collaborating with a rapper you are in sense telling members of the hip-hop culture: "hey look i'm down, I'm cool enough". Also I think Pop culture uses certain elements of hip-hop to appeal to those of the hip-hop culture. I honestly think Pop music takes from whatever's popular. So being that hip-hop has set so many trends, It has and always will have a major impact on Pop music.

Like I said before in class, I believe Hip-hop has a big impact on pop culture in multiple ways. But what I mentioned in specific was how it affected pop culture in a influential way. It gives pop artists several new ways to bite what they hear in hip-hop and add it to their music in ways they were creatively lacking. From the sped up and bass heavy beats that are now a craving in music, to the unapologetic bravado, lyricism, and clothing style that have all been “borrowed” from the Hip-Hop culture. Hip-Hop has also had an impact on my life as well. Although there’s no way I can explain all the reasons how, I can tell you that Hip-Hop music has it’s way of keeping me sane in times where I need it most. It allows me to be able to alter my mood when I need to but can’t quite do it myself. It used to get me hype, and prepared for games back when I played high-school basketball and soccer. Hip-Hop has also taught me new words (and I’m not even talking about slang/lingo/ebonics), it’s even helped me to greater understand that no matter what you’re saying, the way that you say it is always just as critical. Those are just a few of the several reasons and ways in which Hip-Hop has had an impact on my life. Below I’ve attached an interesting video clip that helps to explain the correlation between Hip-Hop and Pop culture.
ReplyDeletehttps://youtu.be/Lmm-EpDuKKE?t=2m25s (it starts the clip at the 2:25 mark, the relevancy ends at the 4 minute mark though lol)
Today, the influence Hip-Hop has had on culture, specifically pop culture, is obvious. With roots firmly entrenched in hip-hop culture, the urban market is heavily influenced by rap music and pop culture, which influence sales of 'culturally cool' items including specific luxury brands. Hip hop has had an influence on the music , the way people dress , dance and speak in pop culture.Pop stars like Katy Perry,Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga ,Chris Brown, and Justin Bieber have all been influence by hip-hop and its culture. Adding a rapper on a Record or even incorporating a hip-hop beat in their music helped expand there music base and also emerged a mix of the two genres. The pop artist Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber change the Disney Channel pop Image to a more urban hip-hop image with the way they dress, language, lyrics, and music. Hip-hop has had an positive impact on my life , it has given me a personal spiritual escape the harsh reality sometimes experience. The lyrics in the hip-hop music is some way shape or form always seem to relate to my life. Like tupacs "dear momma" mad me feel as if everything was going to be alright having to be raised by a single mother . Link to Mike WiLL Made-It - 23 (Explicit) ft. ReplyDeleteHip Hop Culture affects pop culture in many ways. Hip Hop culture in my opinion has a national presence and different movies and songs have paved the way for audiences to experience the many aspects of the hip hop culture. The English language has been largely impacted by the hip-hop culture. Through the years, many of the words and phrases became integrated and used by outside communities. For example, words like “bling bling” and crunk have been added to the dictionary. Phrases such as ‘what’s up’, ‘chill out’, and This is definitely a huge impact on the pop-culture, to be so influential that words are added to the ‘peace out’ are global house hold names.
ReplyDeleteAs we have discussed in class and just like the speaker pointed out in the Music Symposium that I attended at UNC Greensboro, Hip Hop can be heard around the world. It can be heard in the streets of Chicago and in the street of China town. Hip Hop has also had a large impact on marketing, media, video games and even in big corporations are taking notice to hip hop it movement. Corporations such as Burger King, Nike and Reebok have launched advertising and marketing campaigns featuring hip hop culture. For example, Nike has re-visited its ‘just do it’ slogan and they have created a commercial with a hip hop twist. Here again a global company integrating hip hop into their marketing strategy that will be shown on a national scale and get national attention. This shows that hip hop not only give voice to the angry blacks in the street trying to tell their story it also can give a voice to reach your dreams and strive to do more and be more in America.
Hip Hop make an impact in my life every day. The music at times gives me words to situations when I can’t find the words to say. The fashion liberates me and the movement empowers me to be more. Hip Hop is more than just beats or lyrics, it allows me to reflect on my beliefs on various issues and become more self-aware of who I am and what I want to be in the world. For example, just because I enjoy listening to the music doesn’t always mean I am what it says I am. I am not the hoe or bitch they speak about and I can have conversations with my peers about it. For example, we have had many discussions in class about song and lyrics that have been eye-opening to me. Hip hop helps me to connect with other people who may be different from me. For example, I may not have the same socio-economic background, ethnic background or religious background as someone else, however, when hip hop music is on it doesn’t matter we sign, laugh and dance. We come together as one.

Hip-hop culture over the years has blurred the lines with popular culture. Hip-hop has influenced what is good to watch on t.v. with shows like empire, lover and hip-hop, and power to name a few. These shows have a focus or a background in hip-hop. Phrases like, THOT (That Ho over There), c.r.e.a.m, twerk, side chick and others ones that originated in hip-hop culture are now used in popular culture. Major Brands also latch on to hip-hip artist to help sell in the black demographic. Kanye West, Big Sean, and Run DMC working with Adidas. Jordan Brand is making shoes with the most popular artist today Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Reebok, 50 cent having a peace of vitamin water. Some of this partnership workout and increase a company’s profit line while other do not like Mary J Blige and Burger King. Pop music artist use hip-hop artist in their songs on a regular basis to give that pop act an urban appeal. Katy Perry and Juicy J, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift, Run DMC and Aero Smith, Phil Collins and Bone Thugs and Harmony just to name a few.
ReplyDeleteFor me, Hip-hop affected how I wanted to dress, act, and how I wanted people to preserve me and respect me. I remember I wanted a jacket because I felt I would look like Kanye West from the Grammys back in 2008. The hope was that people would look at me and think of me like in that way. Overall, I just wanted to be cool and I felt that hip-hop was the guideline to achieving that goal.
The video below is a example of interesting brand partnership between Burger King and Mary J Blige. This commercial however did make it to air due to people believing its racist to have a black woman sing about chicken.
